Honest, Transparent Surveying

When I started Confluence Land Surveying, I wanted to provide excellent service to clients. I still do, and more and more I am realizing that one of the best services I can provide isn’t Boundary Staking, Topographic Surveys, Construction Surveys, or anything of the sort. Honesty and transparency is one of the best services I can provide. I provide itemized estimates to show where I expect to be spending each dollar I am expecting to charge. I tell potential clients that I will file or record any map that establishes property boundaries, and I tell them why it matters. I tell clients that the reason I am surveying out of a Subaru Outback is because I got a good interest rate on it and purchasing a truck right now would make little sense while I try to grow a company and purchase other survey equipment (I want some fancy drone tech).

Maybe this will help me attract business, maybe it won’t. At the end of the day, I am proud to be doing what I am doing the way I am doing it.

In an effort to be fully transparent with you the reader (or with the empty void these blog posts are being poured into), I will say that I do not want to be a blogger, I want to be a Surveyor. However, to get more of a web presence, I need to have better Search Engine Optimization, and if the 5 minute video I watched was correct, more content helps get more clicks. So I am a blogger now so I can be a better surveyor.

As for the content that will be spouted out here, time will tell. I hope to make this exercise into something meaningful and useful to people, so I will be documenting as much of the company building process I can.

I do not like how much this feels like social media. If I ever start TikTok-ing please put me in an asylum.
